This is an old EP, that does not represent Growth's current sound. Remakes of tracks 3 and 6 are available on the Capitalist Supremacy album (2021), and of track 1 on the Happy Collapse single (2022).

Growth was created in 2007. The name stemmed from the idea that economic growth is blindly worshipped as the universal solution to all the problems in the world, while leading us to our downfall through exhaustion of natural ressources and global warming.
Music-wise, it aimed at blending extreme metal with various other influences, but with no real instruments at all. It was entirely made using midi sounds, with fake guitars crushed through extra distortion. The voice was recorded using a cheap PC mic, and everything was mixed together with the Voice recorder program from Windows 98.
The first song to be written was Apoptosis Commando. It was about destroying humanity so that life could go on on Earth. Along with other tracks, it was released in 2007 as the Growth and decay of mankind EP. It started with oblivious partying and ended in unbearable agony on an exhausted planet.
Theses songs were part of a broader concept album, Autolyse, that was entirely written by 2008. After a failed attempt to gather other musicians for proper recordings, the album was abandoned, and Growth was put to rest. Only two more tracks had been released on Myspace.
In 2019, Growth was brought back to life by its instigator, to work on new songs and refresh some old ones. Twelve years after the first release, the ideas were still as accurate. This remaster of the first EP was the first sign of life from the resurrected band. A token from the past that sets the base of what was to come - as an improved version, hopefully.
