Let's grow, there will be no more sorrow
Let's grow, still our rate is too low
Let's grow, a magical remedy
Let's grow, get your credit cards ready
We have achieved the perfect system
Yet sometimes life can be tough
There’s only one explanation
We haven’t tried hard enough
Famine, war, disease
Worldwide deadly industries
Just a bunch of minor snags
Unite under our flag
Innovative technology
And trickle-down economy
Will solve inconvenient shit
Just increase our benefits
One thing is for sure
The poison is the cure
Let's grow, there will be no more sorrow
Let's grow, still our rate is too low
Let's grow, a magical remedy
Let's grow, get your credit cards ready
You’ve got a crucial role to play
Work, buy shut up and obey
Don’t listen to commie scum
You’ll feast on leftover crumbs
Were your crops wrecked by the heat? - Let’s grow
Your house crushed by a mudslide? - Let’s grow
Are you freezing in the street? - Let’s grow
Has your whole family died? - Let’s grow
Get over it, roll up you sleeves
And get to work, you lazy chump
We’ve got a growth rate to retrieve
A brighter future is to come
I clambered over mounds and mounds of polystyrene foam
And fell into a swimming pool filled with fairy snow
And watched the world turn day-glo
You know you know
The world turned day-glo
You know
I wrenched the nylon curtains back as far as they would go
And peered through Perspex window panes at the acrylic road
And watched the world turn day-glo
You know you know
The world turned day-glo
You know
I drove my polypropylene car on wheels of sponge
Then pulled into a Wimpy bar to have a rubber bun
And watched the world turn day-glo
You know you know
The world turned day-glo
You know
The X-rays were penetrating tThrough the latex breeze
Synthetic fibre see-thru leaves fell from the rayon trees
The day the world turned day-glo
You know you know
The world turned day-glo
You know
about
Before sinking into an 11-year-long cryptobiosis, Growth released its first EP in 2007. Therefore, I wanted to end 2022 by celebrating this 15th anniversary.
Happy Collapse was one of the songs featured on Growth and decay of mankind, and I thought it was still relevant and deserved an updated (and hopefully better) version. Based on original riffs and lyrics, it went through a full reconstruction.
X-Ray Spex's The day the world turned day-glo gets covered as a B-side. Its riff already sounded almost industrial, and the lyrics fit Happy Collapse's theme.
